Happy Sunday,

If it’s your first time reading this, and you like it, come on back each week.  If you just like me, feel free to follow me on Twitter!

This six comes from my 2012 NaNoWriMo Entry that I’m currently working on.  It started from this short flash fiction piece on writing.com, and I’ve decided to expand on the Warlock character.  This is very early in the piece where the character is being introduced.

Please enjoy.

Arthur took a mug from the cabinet and placed it on the Formica counter.  He went to the fridge, grabbed the cream and poured some sweet n lo into his mug.  He took a spoon from the drawer under the counter, stirred his coffee and sat down at the kitchen table.  Arthur flipped his laptop open and began reading the news on the web.  He sipped his coffee and kept taking mental notes of the clock on the bottom tool bar of the computer.

“I really don’t want to go there”, he said to himself.

As always, feel free to leave a comment or a correction.  I welcome all criticism and use it to learn and become better at this craft.

See you next Sunday!

This six is a continuation of last week’s entry, my very short flash fiction piece that I entered on writing.com.

The Warlock and Vanessa remain in his tower, he holds her body close, as his spell has seemingly taken her over.  To read the prior entries leading to this one, just check out my last few Six Sunday entries throughout this blog.

Enjoy.

She opened her mouth and bared her fangs.  She bit into the warlock’s neck and drank his blood until he was dead.  His body hit the floor at Vanessa’s feet.  She picked up his cane then wiped the blood from her lips and opened the door leading out of the tower.  Vanessa looked back at the dead warlock.

“Your magic was worthless, madman”, Vanessa said.

As he chanted, Vanessa became entranced.   The warlock loosened the ropes from her wrists and lifted her up, holding her body close to his.  He struggled to keep her upright and in motion with his own movement.  They danced in the moonlight.  The warlock kissed her neck.  Vanessa’s eyes opened.

The Warlock and his captive remain seated in a room atop his tower.

Enjoy.

“I do have that power, Vanessa”, he said.

Facing the warlock  was a woman in a black dress bound to a chair with white rope.   Her eyes emerald and hair as red as blood.  She didn’t move or struggle with the rope, her only expression was a smile at the man seated across from her.

The warlock rose from the chair and took his twisted black cane which rested against the desk.  He pointed it at Vanessa and recited a language she didn’t understand.

This six is a continuation of last week’s entry.

It comes from a very short story I wrote for a flash fiction contest, which I have won in the past, although not this time.  I liked the characters quite a bit though and I want to develop them.  It’s now an untitled work in progress, which I hope will grow and become something bigger.

Enjoy.

The warlock continued carving the marble block with his enchanted knife, a dragon’s shape beginning to form.  The blade glowed a faint, frozen blue each time it struck the stone.

“You can’t stay quiet forever”, the warlock said.

Silence.

“I’ll eventually force you to speak…and to love me”, he said.

The warlock put the knife down, and turned in his chair, towards his prisoner.

The moonlight filled the window of the warlock’s quarters, atop the tower.  Brushing his white hair from his face, he stopped his work and bathed his eyes in the glow.

“Perhaps you’d be more comfortable in the light?”, he asked.

There was no answer.

“Have it your way”, he said.

The warlock turned from the window and continued sculpting.
